The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to begin on 19 June and conclude on 17 July, with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda sharing hosting responsibilities.

The confirmed basics

CAF describes the event as the first AFCON jointly hosted by three countries. The PAMOJA name draws on the Swahili word for “together”, reflecting the joint organisation of the tournament.

The three hosts have guaranteed places at the finals, although they also participate in qualifying. CAF’s tournament guide sets out a 24-team finals competition.

What supporters should check

For supporters, the confirmed dates and host nations provide a starting point for planning. They do not replace official information on match allocations, individual stadiums, ticket sales, entry requirements or accreditation. Those details need separate checks against the relevant announcements.

For East Africa, the reporting story extends beyond the pitch. Transport, hospitality, public infrastructure and local businesses will all deserve scrutiny as preparations develop. The strongest coverage will distinguish announced plans from completed work and will explain what each development means for residents as well as visiting fans.
