Uganda don’t need to qualify for AFCON 2027. As co-hosts with Kenya and Tanzania, their place is already booked. They are playing as if they do, though.
Arnold Vula scored in first-half stoppage time on 29 September to beat Libya 1-0, CAF reported. Added to a 1-1 draw away in Tunisia, it puts the Cranes top of Group H with four points.
A tight race behind them
Behind Uganda, it is crowded. Tunisia and Botswana drew 2-2 with each other and have two points each from two draws. Libya have one. Only one point separates the three teams chasing the group’s single extra place at the finals.
That is where Uganda matter. Every point they take off Tunisia, Botswana or Libya changes the race for that ticket.
In November, Tunisia host Libya and Uganda take on Botswana. For coach and players, these are competitive games in the build-up to a home tournament, from 19 June to 17 July 2027. For their opponents, they could decide everything.
