Launched in 2017, Pa Gya! marked its tenth edition in Accra this October. Pa Gya! celebrated its tenth edition from 16 to 18 October, at the Goethe-Institut Ghana and the Foundation for Contemporary Art–Ghana, both in Cantonments.
The festival is run by Writers Project of Ghana together with those two venues, and organisers promised special programming to mark the anniversary.
More than books
Pa Gya! has never been just about authors reading from their latest work. The programme takes in readings, panel discussions, poetry performances, lectures and storytelling, alongside book launches and literary prizes.
It also makes room for comics and graphic novels, exhibitions and film screenings.
Ten editions in, the festival has become a fixture of Accra’s cultural calendar, and a reminder that the city’s storytelling scene goes well beyond the printed page.
